My Brother Matt

Last time I spoke of Matt he was in a serious accident and nearly died however a lot has happened since then. First a review. On Friday April 22, 2005 around 3:00AM Matt was driving his truck home and somehow managed to plow into the back of a semi. Alcohol was not a factor however we do know that Matt was speeding and the semi was parked in the on the road. Both were at fault. Moving on, when he hit Matt managed to take a 2004 Chevy Silverado and turn it into a El Camino. He suffered sever brain trauma by fracturing a good section of his skull and impressing it 1.5 cm. Along with that he shattered the bone under his left eye and had a large laceration on his left leg. Needless to say the first 72 hour were critical to ensure that there were no more brain hemorrhages and that he would pull through. Matt pulled through with flying colors, moving around a lot in bed and just being Matt. Apparently its a good thing to be a stubborn ass! Matt spend the next 2 months in the hospital, a good month in ICU, where he continued to get a little better everyday. After the hospital he was moved to a nursing home/rehab center and stayed there for about a month. During his time there he again continued to recover exceedingly well. Around 2.75 months after the accident he began to speak and even started walking. He still had the absent minded stare in his eyes but that too went away at a miraculous rate. Finally after 3.5 months Matt is home. People say that there is no God and miracles don't exist. Well my brother is a miracle. By all accounts he should be dead. The fact that he's alive is a miracle. Then the fact that I can hold a conversation with him and discuss things that take cognitive thought is a miracle! It's been 4 months since the accident and Matt is doing very very well. He has a long road ahead of him but we're all just glad that he's with us. Thanks to all that have been keeping him in your prayers.

IAH

You may or may not have heard about two ladies running through security at IAH, Houston International. Just incase here you go. Two ladies ran through an un-manned security station at IAH. 15 minutes later security monitoring the cameras noticed it. They then shutdown the entire airport. No plans were allowed to leave and those planes that were landing were not allowed to de-plane. I was one of the many who were stuck on a plane that wasn't allowed to de-plane. Finally after an hour we were allowed to get off the plane. Those that didn't have any connecting flights were allowed to leave however everyone else was stuck. Security re-screened around 300 people in the C-B Terminal link and God knows how many in the other terminals. After it was all said and done, they never found the ladies and determined that they were confused. TSA later said that they are no longer looking for the ladies as it seemed to have been an accident and there is no reason to believe that they did anything dangerous. Nice....
